Gay Kosmopol

Un article paru sur le site du NEW YORK BLADE intitulé More grey less gay(cliquer ici) rend compte d'un forum qui s'est déroulé à New York pour investiguer les besoins d'un public LGBT plus âgé. Pourquoi ce forum? Parce qu'on considère que la  population des seniors gays et lesbiennes  doublera dans les vingt ans à venir. Une constatation: les gays âgés de New York ont davantage tendance à s'occuper des problèmes liés au SIDA qu'aux problèmes du vieillissement.

Une phrase qui devrait nous faire réfléchir, et agir:

“There’s as much ageism in the LGBT community as there is homophobia in the straight community,” said one resident. Another complained that gay senior organizations place too much emphasis on HIV and AIDS. Someone else noted that the elderly often go back in the closet once they’re in a senior center.

These comments were raised recently during special forum at the LGBT Center to address the needs of New York’s queer aging population.
